"Debbie,

During the length of

time that I've been

coming here...it's

amazing to me to see

how far I've come and

the progress I've made.

I realize I still have a

long way to go in my

healing process, but

I feel strengthened

and encouraged by

the steps that you

have helped me make

and the journey I've

been on so far.  This

experience in my

therapy has been

the 'safest' and

healthiest for me in

all my years of therapy -

thanks for making this journey possible in my life...thank you for the

tools & skills you have

given me."

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has over 20 years of experience working in a variety of clinical settings.  With an undergraduate in Psychology and a graduate degree in Clinical Social Work, I have spent the majority of my career in connection with women's agencies, rape crisis centers, and domestic violence communities.  I have presented locally and nationally on issues related to trauma, PTSD, sexual assault and rape, domestic violence, and self-care.  I work as a consultant and/or volunteer with several agencies including The Women's Resource Center to End Domestic Violence, DeKalb Rape Crisis Center, Men Stopping Violence, and The Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Having spent the last 10 years in private practice, I have come to learn that the therapeutic process works best as a healing space that provides both support and accountability; this helps clients to identify and increase their strengths rather than simply focusing on pathologies.  My theoretical  approaches include cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and metaphysical/energy work all within a feminist/strength-based perspective.  My philosophy about the healing process helps me stay grounded in the principles of respect for diversity, inner wisdom, empowerment, mind-body connections, self-care, and the importance of humor.
